While there are a number of approaches to summarising and concluding the material contained in this thesis, the most useful conclusion comes from re-visiting the original research questions and answering the questions based on the collected information.

Research Questions

Community Ties: Do communities located along the Alexander Mackenzie Voyageur Route have ties to their waterway? What is the nature of these ties?

Stakeholder Support: Are community stakeholders supportive of the development of the Alexander Mackenzie Voyageur Route?

Development Considerations: Should the Alexander Mackenzie Voyageur Route be protected, developed and promoted as a local and national heritage resource for tourism and recreation?

Following the presentation of the research questions is a discussion of the legitimacy of the thesis statement.


Thesis Statement

Heritage Significance and Benefit: The Alexander Mackenzie Voyageur Route has both local and national heritage significance, and further development of the Route will benefit communities through which it passes and the Nation as a whole.
