Route Description
The Alexander Mackenzie Voyageur route exists as a continuous route from the Old Port of Quebec, in Quebec City, to Alexander Mackenzie Provincial Park, on the north shore of Dean Channel, west of Bella Coola, British Columbia. The Route is more than 8,500 kilometres in length, passing through four major drainage basins, specifically the Atlantic, Hudson Bay, Arctic, and Pacific. More than one hundred and forty (140) communities are located along the Route, as well as many Parks and Heritage Sites, including two World Heritage Sites, two National Parks, five Heritage Rivers, six National Historic Sites/Parks and numerous provincial parks, reserves, historic sites, and regional/community heritage resources.
